Welcome and the Plans

Postby Bert on Fri Jun 09, 2006 3:15 pm

Welcome Dear Reader,

another Forum for Panorama Photographers, while there already a few good ones, like the one from Max Lyons, and Panoguide to name a few.

And, there are the very well used mailing lists like Panotools and the Quicktime-VR mailing list. (the ones I read..)

Well, I think the others have left a little space for this forum. Besides the usual subjects we Panographers like to talk about, an important thing is presenting your Panoramas on the web.

Some Photographers spend a lot of time on the technical side of pano shooting, and their website comes in second. (Not all, some have simply great sites!)

People in need for a better website, and specially a website that has the chance to do well in the Search Engines are welcome here to have a chat, and see if things can be improved.

Another plan is to build a free php MySql content management system for both Virtual Tours and (fullscreen) Panorama galleries.

A system that can be integrated in existing sites, and makes it easy to run your site, without thinking too much about how its going to look like. Just upload, fill in some fields, and thats it.

Another topic here may be website useability, do people "get the pciture" when the wander around your site?

If you think that there are other "gaps" that need to be filled, let me know.

Congatulations with this new forum, which looks like it has very interesting plan :)

I look forward to seeing some good solutions to the presentation/publishing/web problem :)

Speaking of gaps - I don't think I've seen any forum where the combining of panoramas with 3D is being discussed?

Hello Bert,
have you tested the TourGuide CMS of Nick Crossland from http://www.panoptics.co.uk ? There are some thoughts about a free and basic version, but I can't speak for Nick.

I have glanced over it...

But I don't want to look at it too much.

I don't want to be a copy cat :)
