Virtual Tours

Quicktime, Java Applets, Flash, or Shockwave?

Ha, nice to see a face :)

Have you any samples of what you think is s good virtual tour?

I have seen one, which I appreciated, but I can't remember where at the moment....

It was in quicktime, but without hot-spots. Just an i-frame with the pano's and a simple drop-down box with description to click another pano.

Small, fast loading, good quality panos....

Have to look up the site when I am home again....

yes, sure... ehem... let me see... I KNOW I HAD BOOKMARKED DOZENS...

ok, just a few which I can find quickly:

http://chenonceau.fromparis.com/

http://vrm.vrway.com/vartist/spotlight/ ... _JAVA.html article on immervision-player with example tours. Look for the Duomo di Milano tour (Arounder)

http://www.virtualbyron.com/tour.php . Its Flash and simple. Panos seem to be older, not warped and not really good quality but still it makes you click on and on.

And here is one on the world famous Frauenkirche in Dresden (german only: select connection - skip intro - choose "Die Kirche")

http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/inhalt/4 ... -6,00.html

I will bookmark better in the future :-)

More good tours can be found on the Easypano Tourweaver examples page, but as I said, if the tours are good, the panoramas are not. The player destroys the whole product.

BTW: What about a specialised Tour-Gallery with description of the provided features and how it was done?

Oh, these are great virtual tours !

But I don't think the average real estate agent will hire you and say "I have 20 houses please make 20 virtual tours like that for me"...

The photographer / multi-media producer will quote the agent a price like "one house" for that I suppose.

I am more thinking about the best solution for a "production environment", such as a real estate agent...

Panoramas will probably sell only in connection with high value real estate objects. The average real estat agent - at least here in Germany - will be satisfied with his 2MP camera shots, always helped by a strong flashlight, I'm afraid.

But for those clients with a worthwhile scene, it could push the panoramas on a higher level if you connect them to a virtual tour. Certainly this should not blow up the budget too much. If you spend a significant amount of money to present your surroundings, then it sounds reasonable to add _some_ money to make it so much more valuable. My point is, to asure a good price for this added value, a good piece of software would help the producer very much. Up to now it seems more complicated to me than needed.

Virtual tours

Hm I palyed with some and found this one
http://www.360dof.com
very valuable.
Beside the demo, called "virtual brochure", runs without any limittion.
Only a "3DOF" inside the window - that´s OK for testing.

They just got a new version and Nitin Adappa makes quite good offers for
non-commercials. Real estates are not included but Bali3D could be on the issue .
Ciao
