360 One VR

Has anyone tried this system. I am looking to purchase this for a project.

I don't expect the vr from this sytem to be high res.

I am looking to shoot good panos with no ghosting. That product is on back order and I have noticed that theier are other solutions such as a fish eye lens.

I just purchaed a Canon 5D and I would appriciate any help that you could give me in regards to this. I own a Kaidan tripod head for multi shot panos and that works great for areas where there is no movement.

I use a mac and vr worx for stiching. I can change apps if i need to to get great results.

thanks!!

Hi, and Welcome....

I allways wondered how such a system would work on the 5D.....

But I am sure that the quality is much less then using the 5D with an ordinary fish eye.... :D

And you will never be able to do full spherical panoramas......

An alternative could be using the 5D and the shaved Nikon 10.5, it takes just 3 shots, instead of the usual 7 with a full frame fish eye, but also at the cost of loosing resolution.

It all depends on where you use your panoramas for I guess....

People that need to make 20 panoramas a day, won't like using the 5D and a FF fish eye...

It is possible for me to make about 4-8 good (finished) pano's in one day, including stitching and retouching.

It IS possible to shoot crowds with a tripod and doing 6 around and 1 up, but it most of the time requires some touching up here and there....

The 360 One works quite fine on prosumer digital cameras with smaller sensors. The problem with the 5D is to get the whole mirror on focus.

The recommended lens for the 5D is a 50mm Sigma macro, closed to f32.
This means you have to push the ISO setting to get down to f32.

I will get a used 50mm Sigma in about three weeks, so later on I can tell you more.

BTW, you can also look for a used and older unit (the bigger type 1). The mirror form is always the same, only the building of the unit has changed.

This thread is a bit old but what the heck... An estate agent friend of mine bought the 360 One and whilst he found it convenient taking an entire pano in one shot, in the end he wasn't happy with the image quality. I think his conclusion was that it is ok where speed is important but not so good for ultimate hi-res quality... He has now bought the Nodal Ninja with Nikon D300/10.5mm fisheye and is a lot happier with the results.
